Welcome to Rain City Soccer Club!

Rain City Soccer Club (RCSC) organizes predominantly gay/lesbian soccer teams in the Seattle area. Our membership includes three hundred members of all skill levels and ages playing on one or more of the teams year round! We are proud to announce that, as of 2006, we are the largest LGBT soccer club in the world! Our purpose is to provide members with a safe environment to meet like-minded people to socialize and play soccer. Membership is open to all skill levels; all you need is a healthy and positive attitude. Our organization offers several levels of competition from open scrimmages to competitive indoor and outdoor teams.

RCSC strives to:

  • Provide opportunities to play on competitive and/or recreational LGBT teams of various skill levels
  • Provide opportunities to learn to play soccer in a welcoming, safe, and empowering environment
  • Organize social events where LGBT people (and friends) can meet and socialize in a positive and healthy environment
  • Be well represented by and equally inclusive of women and men
  • Provide a healthy, health-promoting environment for soccer players in our region

RCSC is a member of the International Gay and Lesbian Football Association, Gay and Lesbian International Sports Association, the Federation of Gay Games, and is represented at national and international tournaments including Out Games, IGLFA tournaments, and Gay Games. Our Club participates and/or organizes several international tournaments throughout the year in Seattle or Canada, and is joined by Portland soccer team as well.

These goals are fulfilled through practices, team cardio workouts, social events, and scheduled league games.

  • Ripple Effect is RCSC's recreational men's soccer team. It plays a weekly scrimmage game on Sunday afternoons. Ripple Effect plays for fun, emphasizes a positive and inclusive space, focuses on individual skill-building and teamwork, and often goes out for one beer after games.

This is a team for women committed to play at a more competitive level on a regional, national, and international level (such as Kla Ha Ya, IGLFA, Gay Games 2010 in Germany, and more...) We practice weekly & we expect people to show up: we are all about skill drills, building trust and rapport on the field, scrimmages, conditioning, & positive, competitive play. Because it matters, we are also very committed to giving back to the community, and as a team we participate in various charitable events in order to keep our 'community cred' nice and strong. We're also about camaraderie & having big fun. (of course!) Ongoing: Weekly outdoor practices & indoor fitness conditioning at our sponsoring gym, American Athlete Greenlake. (check out our gym at www.americanathletegreenlake.com). We challenge each other to reach new levels of play while keeping it positive. "Competitive fun" is at the core of our game, fueled by a lots of of hard work, respect for each other, a passion for soccer, and our love of snazzy socks. We play competitively in Women's Div 1 of Seattle Co-Rec and we focus on all of the same type of positive soccer skill-building, teamwork and great field presence that our sister team does.
